E.ON Kraftwerke GmbH holds the&nbsp;majority interest in&nbsp;the&nbsp;Schkopau power plant.<\/p>\n<p>Through this transaction, EP\u00a0ENERGY, a\u00a0part of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Energetick\u00fd a\u00a0pr\u016fmyslov\u00fd holding Group (EPH), has effectively acquired a\u00a0part of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Schkopau power station that corresponds to an installed capacity of&nbsp;400\u00a0MWe. The&nbsp;total installed electrical capacity of&nbsp;EP\u00a0ENERGY\u2019s power stations has therefore risen to 1,477 MWe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAcquiring a\u00a0stake in&nbsp;the&nbsp;Schkopau power plant follows up on our acquisition of&nbsp;the&nbsp;coal mining company MIBRAG. Thanks to the&nbsp;Schkopau acquisition, we will interconnect coal extraction with power generation, thereby ensuring long term sales of&nbsp;the&nbsp;coal from MIBRAG mines,\u201d said Jan \u0160pringl, EP\u00a0ENERGY\u2019s CEO and&nbsp;member of&nbsp;its&nbsp;Board of&nbsp;Directors. \u201cThe transaction confirms our enormous interest in&nbsp;the&nbsp;German energy market and&nbsp;is also a\u00a0part of&nbsp;our broader strategic plan to achieve a\u00a0vertical integration of&nbsp;MIBRAG,\u201d he also noted. \u201cAs a\u00a0result of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Schkopau acquisition, EP\u00a0ENERGY becomes de facto a\u00a0half-German company in&nbsp;terms of&nbsp;operating profit generation,\u201d added Mr \u0160pringl.<\/p>\n<p>The Schkopau power plant is supplied by lignite from MIBRAG\u2019s Profen mine. It is an important part of&nbsp;the&nbsp;electricity supply system in&nbsp;central Germany. Schkopau supplies energy to, among others, the&nbsp;neighbouring major chemical works and&nbsp;also for Deutsche Bahn.<\/p>\n<p>EP\u00a0ENERGY is a\u00a0vertically integrated energy utility covering the&nbsp;complete value chain from coal extraction to electricity and&nbsp;gas supply for final customers. EP\u00a0ENERGY is the&nbsp;largest supplier of&nbsp;heat and&nbsp;the&nbsp;second largest electricity producer in&nbsp;the&nbsp;Czech Republic. EP\u00a0ENERGY is placed third in&nbsp;brown coal mining in&nbsp;Germany, where it owns MIBRAG, a\u00a0company whose output amounted to 19 million tonnes last year.<\/p>\n<p>The cogeneration capacities of&nbsp;Elektr\u00e1rny Opatovice (EOP),\u00a0Pra\u017esk\u00e1 tepl\u00e1rensk\u00e1, United Energy (UE), MIBRAG, and&nbsp;Plze\u0148sk\u00e1 energetika (PE) and&nbsp;the&nbsp;renewable capacities of&nbsp;EP\u00a0ENERGY have a\u00a0total electrical capacity, already including the&nbsp;400\u00a0MWe from Schkopau, of&nbsp;1,477 MWe and&nbsp;a\u00a0capacity of&nbsp;4,744 MWt for heat production. Through its&nbsp;combined heat &amp; power generation plants, EP\u00a0ENERGY supplies heat in&nbsp;the&nbsp;Czech Republic to approximately 360,000 households and&nbsp;also for corporate, municipal and&nbsp;institutional customers. The&nbsp;EP\u00a0ENERGY Group has a\u00a0total of&nbsp;4,400 employees and&nbsp;reported an EBITDA of&nbsp;CZK 7.3 billion (EUR&nbsp;297 million) for 2011.<\/p>\n<p>EP\u00a0ENERGY is a\u00a0wholly-owned subsidiary of&nbsp;ENERGETICK\u00dd A\u00a0PR\u016eMYSLOV\u00dd HOLDING (EPH).
